Description
The squared geometric layout gets a silver thread treatment on black velvet in bag 793. The lines are the same disciplined right angles as the gold version, but silver keeps the whole face restrained, and the design ends up looking more like a finish than a decoration. It is a good pick for a man who wants an embroidered bag that does not announce itself.
The three sizes are the bar mitzvah 10.5 by 10, the large talis bag at 14 by 14 and the extra large at 16 by 16. Daily use is where this design earns its keep, so choose the size by what actually goes in it every morning: tefillin alone need very little room, tefillin plus a folded wool tallis need the 14, and a large tallis needs the 16.
Silver on black is also the easier match if the tefillin bag inside came with silver-toned lettering or the tallis has silver clips, which keeps the set consistent without any effort.
