Description
Malchut works design 815 in gold embroidery across a black velvet bag. The thread is the warm gold used on most of the range, and it covers enough of the face to give the bag presence on the bench without hiding the velvet underneath. Handled, it feels like what it is: a piece meant to be used every day for a very long time.
Three sizes are made. The 10.5 by 10 bar mitzvah bag is the right proportion for a boy of thirteen; the 14 by 14 large talis bag takes a standard wool tallis folded with tefillin beside it; and the 16 by 16 extra large gives room for a bigger tallis or for anything else that travels with it on Shabbos.
Gold on black remains the default for a reason. A father buying for himself, a family buying for a chosson, and a bochur choosing his own first bag will all end up looking at a design like this one before they look anywhere else.
