Description
Design 840 is embroidered in gold on black velvet, and it is one of the numbers Malchut has carried across more than one product, which tells you it sells. The stitching is confident, the velvet is deep, and the two together give the bag the look most men picture when they think of a talis bag.
It comes in the bar mitzvah size at 10.5 by 10, the large talis size at 14 by 14 and the extra large at 16 by 16. For a boy of thirteen the smallest is correct; for a man with a full wool tallis the 14 by 14; and the 16 by 16 for a heavy tallis or a fuller load.
The 840 number is also made as a gartel bag, so a man who keeps his gartel with his tallis can carry both in the same design rather than in whatever came to hand. Ordering the two together is a small thing that looks right every Shabbos.
