Description
Silver stitching across black velvet gives design 887 its look, with the thread carrying a broad pattern over the front of the bag. It is bright without being reflective, so it holds up under the fluorescent light of an ordinary weekday minyan as well as it does on Shabbos morning.
The bag is offered in three sizes up to 16 by 16, starting with the 10.5 by 10 bar mitzvah bag and passing through the 14 by 14 large talis bag. Buy by contents: tefillin alone need almost nothing, tefillin with a folded standard tallis need the middle size, and a large wool tallis needs the top one.
Silver on black is also the least demanding combination to live with. It does not clash with a gold-clipped tallis the way an aggressive gold bag can clash with silver, so it is the safer choice when you are buying for someone whose tallis you have never actually seen.
