Description
Design 930 keeps the gold embroidery generous on black velvet. There is more thread on the face here than on the restrained numbers nearby, and the effect is a bag that carries real presence on the bench without straying into anything ornate or unusual.
It is made in the 10.5 by 10 bar mitzvah size, the 14 by 14 large talis bag and the 16 by 16. The bar mitzvah bag is for a boy of thirteen; the 14 by 14 is the ordinary adult size and takes a folded wool tallis with tefillin; the 16 by 16 is for a large tallis or a fuller load on Shabbos and Yom Tov.
930 also appears as a challah cover, a challah board, a matzah cover and a haggadah cover. For a chosson and kallah setting up a home, ordering the bag along with the table pieces in one design number is about as coordinated as Judaica gets without a special commission.
