Description
Classic and restrained, 1264 is the design for a man who does not want to be asked about his bag. The embroidery is traditional in feel, worked cleanly, and it stops where it should instead of filling every open area. Malchut prices it in the middle of the custom line, which is a fair reflection of what it is: a properly built bag without the extra ornamentation that pushes the top numbers higher.
Sizes are 10.5" x 10" for bar mitzvah, 14" x 14" for a large talis bag, and 16" x 16" for extra large. The bar mitzvah bag is the standard purchase alongside a first pair of tefillin. Grown men divide between the other two, and the deciding factor is nearly always how thick the tallis is when folded.
A restrained design like this is the easy answer when you are buying for an older man, a rebbi or a father-in-law, where something heavily ornamented would feel out of character but a plain bag would not do either.
