Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Brown Leather with Fur or Crushed Velvet, Design #1343

Warm brown leather with brown fur is the main version of 1343, and it is a genuine departure from the black bags that fill most shuls. The brown reads rich rather than pale, and the fur is kept in the same family so the bag holds together as one colour. The second option goes the other way entirely: white leather with crushed velvet, a lighter and dressier bag where the crushed pile supplies the texture instead of fur.

Both are cut as a bar mitzvah bag at 10.5" x 10", a large talis bag at 14" x 14", or an extra large at 16" x 16". Size on the tallis, not on the finish. A bochur takes the smallest; a man with a standard woolen tallis takes the middle; a heavy tallis or a bag that also carries a siddur wants the largest.

Brown is the choice for a man who already owns a black bag and wants his next one to be visibly different. It also sits well with a brown leather siddur cover, which black never quite does.
