The needlework on #2047 is worked fine rather than broad, with small elements building the pattern instead of a few large ones. Up close there is a lot to look at; from a few feet away it settles into a single even face. That combination is what makes a bag still look right on a man years after the bar mitzvah it was bought for.
It is made at 10.5 by 10 inches for a bar mitzvah bochur, 14 by 14 for a large talis bag, and 16 by 16 for an extra large. Families buying for a thirteen-year-old have a real choice here: the small bag fits him and his tallis now, and the 14 by 14 fits the man he will be. Neither is wrong, but it is worth deciding on purpose rather than by default.
As a bar mitzvah gift this is one of the designs that does not age into something he quietly replaces at twenty.
