Description
Embroidery runs the full panel on #2115, corner to corner, with no plain ground reserved. Worked at that coverage the front takes on a slight relief, and the design is read as much by the way the stitching turns as by any change of colour within it.
Three sizes are available and each is worked to its own panel. The bar mitzvah bag at 10.5 by 10 inches, the large talis bag at 14 by 14, and the extra large at 16 by 16. Because the coverage is complete, the 16 by 16 carries a considerably larger worked area than the smallest cut, which is worth knowing if the bag is being bought as a serious gift.
Take the size from the folded tallis rather than from habit. Men who have carried the same undersized bag for years often assume that is the correct size, when in fact it is just the one they have got used to.
