Description
Here I Am is a Young Readers Biography by Carol Ungar about Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis. In the winter of 1947, after the terrible war years, young Esther arrives in Brooklyn with her family, all of them alive and together. She soon notices that many Jewish neighbors know nothing about Shabbos, and her father tells her they must be taught.
So Esther invites a girl named Annie home to see what Shabbos is like, the first step in a lifetime of reaching out. As she grows, she wants to show more and more people what it means to be a Jew, even when they may not want to listen. Short text and black and white illustrations make it a strong leveled reader for young biography fans.
