Description
The Berry Kippah is a four-panel black and plum check cotton yarmulke for men and boys, cut in 10 sizes and priced at $9.99. Up close the cloth is a tiny houndstooth, black interlocking with a muted berry-plum, so small that from a few feet away the whole dome reads as a dark aubergine. The rim is a narrow binding cut from the same check, so there is no contrast band at all. From above, the four seams meet cleanly at the crown, with the pattern running straight across each panel. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

Best for
- A man who wears dark kippot but wants something that is not flat black
- Pairing with a burgundy tie, a plum sweater or a charcoal suit
- Weekday shul and the office, where a loud print would feel out of place
- Fathers and sons, since the range runs from size 1 up to 7 plus flat cuts
Not the right choice if
- Your yeshiva or shul expects a plain black kippah
- You want the berry colour to be obvious; at a distance it looks almost black
- You prefer a contrasting rim; this one is bound in its own fabric
- You want velvet or leather for a formal Shabbos look
Why customers choose it
Most dark cotton kippot are flat black; this one hides a second colour in the weave. The black and plum houndstooth is fine enough that it passes as a dark, sober kippah in shul, yet anyone standing close sees the texture and the berry tint. Because the rim is bound in the same check, the whole piece looks like one continuous cloth, which keeps it understated. The long size run, including flat cuts at 16, 18 and 20cm, makes it easy to match a father and a young son.

Frequently asked questions
Is the berry colour bright or subtle?
Subtle. The plum threads are woven into a very small houndstooth with black, so the kippah looks dark aubergine from a distance and shows its check only up close.
How is this different from the black and grey check kippah?
The weave and cut are the same style of tiny check. The Berry version mixes black with plum; the other mixes black with grey, which reads more neutral with grey or navy suits.
Does it have a contrasting rim?
No. The edge is finished with a narrow binding of the same berry check fabric, so the dome and rim match.
Which size fits an adult man?
Size 5 fits most teens and men. Sizes 6 and 7 are for larger heads, and the 16, 18 and 20cm flat cuts suit men who prefer a shallower, flatter kippah.
Can I wash this cotton kippah?
Spot-clean it with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap, then let it air-dry flat so the panels keep their shape.
Can a name be embroidered on it?
Yes. A name or date can be added with no minimum order; allow 10 to 14 days plus shipping for embroidery.
