Description
The lightest wool tallis made, and the name says as much. Especially thin wool yarns go through a finishing process that takes nearly all the weight out of the cloth, to the point that men wearing one report barely registering it on the shoulders. The weave is worked to grip rather than slip, which is the usual failing of a very light tallis and the reason most of them end up bunched at the elbows.
Sizes are 55, 60, 63, 70 and 80, matched to height: 55 under five foot four, 60 through five foot seven, 70 through five foot ten, and the larger numbers above that. Strings are thick avodas yad, tied, or bli. If you daven in a shul without air conditioning, or you are in Eretz Yisroel through the summer, this is the tallis that separates a comfortable Shacharis from an endured one.
Light does not mean fragile here. The finishing is meant to hold up across years of daily use rather than one hot season.
