Description
Kemo Turkish — woven in the manner of the Tunisian-Turkish shawls rather than being one. The weave pattern gives this Shabbos Hamefoar a heavier, more substantial hand than a standard tallis and a slightly rough surface, which is what keeps it sitting where you put it on the shoulder. Pure wool throughout, at a high level of finish: lined, reinforced, corners in reinforced wool fabric, tips carrying a double knot.
What is worth noticing is that the tips and reinforcements are cut from the same wool as the body, so they disappear into the tallis instead of reading as patches sewn onto it. Sizes are 60, 63, 70, 80 and 90, chosen by height — 60 for five foot five to five foot seven, 70 for five foot eight to five foot ten, and the larger numbers above that. Strings are the thick avodas yad, tied, or bli.
It is sold exclusively in this weave and it sits between the true Echt Terkish and the standard Hamefoar: the character of the old Turkish shawl, in a tallis cut for Shabbos.
