Traditional Wool Tallis with White and Gold Stripes, Sizes 18 to 70

White and gold is the Yom Tov look, and in many houses it is the only tallis that is not black-striped. Gold on a white ground takes up every bit of light in the shul, which is exactly why it comes out for the Shalosh Regalim and the Yomim Noraim and goes back in the bag afterwards.

It runs in eight sizes: 18 by 72, 24 by 72 and 36 by 72 for a boy or a bochur; 45 at 43 by 64 and 50 at 47 by 67 through the middle; and 55, 60 and 70 at 51 by 72, 55 by 75 and 59 by 80 for grown men. Buying for a bar mitzvah, most families take the 18 or the 24 and let him move up to a wider one in a few years.

A white and gold tallis also photographs differently from a black-striped one. The stripes read warm rather than as hard dark lines, which matters at a chuppah more than most people will admit.
