The extra length gives you the working time to move steadily along the row, and it means one candle can serve the whole family if several menorahs are lit one after another in the same doorway.
Beeswax rather than paraffin: the flame holds steady while the candle is tipped sideways over a cup, the stick keeps its shape instead of softening in a warm hand, and it gives off very little smoke. Made by Ohr and sold at Judaica Square with free shipping over $75.
