Frequently asked questions

Why do boxes contain 44 candles?
Because that is exactly one menorah for the whole of Chanukah: 36 lights across the eight nights, plus 8 shamashim. One box per person lighting, and a spare is sensible — candles snap.

What is the difference between standard and long-burning candles?
Standard candles burn about thirty minutes, which meets the common requirement of thirty minutes after nightfall when you light at the usual time. Long-burning candles exist for when you light early — erev Shabbos above all — and need the flames still going well after dark.

Are beeswax candles worth it?
They burn a little cleaner and smell better, and many prefer them for that. They cost more. Halachically, standard paraffin candles are entirely fine.

Will these fit my menorah?
Standard Chanukah candles fit standard menorah sockets, which is what nearly all candle menorahs use. Antique, novelty or oversized menorahs sometimes do not — measure the socket if yours is unusual.

How do I stop wax getting everywhere?
A drip tray under the menorah, and letting wax harden completely before removing it rather than scraping at it warm. This is the difference between a five-minute clean-up and a ruined windowsill.

How many boxes does a family need?
One per person lighting, for all eight nights. A family where five light needs five boxes — which people routinely underestimate and then discover on night three.

When should I order?
Allow about two weeks. Candles are cheap, essential and the first thing to sell out. Buying early costs nothing and removes the risk.
