Description
Bronze antique leather, worked in design #1547 and cut in the Kaftor size that women use at the seder. The finish is what carries it: the color sits darker in the seams and lifts across the flat of the panel, so the cover has depth in it without any applied ornament competing with the table. Bronze is the warm end of the antique range, closer to a burnished metal than to brown.
There is one configuration here, so nothing to specify beyond the color and the number. The cover goes onto the haggadah and stays there, which is the whole point of it. A haggadah gets handled harder than any sefer in the house on those two nights, opened flat, set down on a wet table, passed to a child and back, and the leather takes that instead of the binding. This is the cover for a kallah keeping her own haggadah rather than reading over her husband's shoulder.
#1547 is one of the wider Malchut numbers. The same design is made as a machzor cover, as a siddur cover, as a zemiros booklet cover and on chanukah pieces, so a kallah given this at Pesach can be given the machzor cover before the Yomim Noraim and end up with a matched set assembled one Yom Tov at a time.
