Description
Design #995 is gold on black velvet, worked as its own composition rather than a variation on the numbers around it. The gold is used with some discipline here, leaving enough black velvet showing that the bag still reads as a velvet bag rather than an embroidered panel. That balance is what makes it wear well over years of daily use.
The bar mitzvah size is 10.5 x 10 — the right proportion for a boy carrying tefillin and a tallis katan. The large talis bag is 14 x 14, which is what most men order and what holds a full tallis with tefillin comfortably. The extra large is 16 x 16, for a heavier tallis or for a man who does not want anything squeezed.
The same #995 embroidery is made up as a challah cover and a matzah cover, so a family can carry one design from the bag in shul to the table at home. It is a common request for a chosson, where the bag and the challah cover are bought together.
