Antique Leather and Velvet Challah Cover with Crystals #730

Antique-finish paneling laid against velvet is what design 730 is built on. The antiqued sections are darker in the recesses and lighter where the surface catches light, so they read as worn and handled rather than new and flat, and the velvet around them gives a deep, even ground for the contrast to sit against. Embroidery runs across both, and sterling crystals are set into the work so the face picks up the candles once they are lit.

Three sizes are made. Small, 14.5 by 17.5, is the compact one. Medium, 15.5 by 19.5, covers a standard pair of challos with a proper margin all round. Large, 19.5 by 23.5, is cut for a long table or for covering a full challah board rather than just the challos. Sizing up is the usual regret-free choice here, since a cover that overhangs looks intentional and one that barely reaches does not.
