Description
Simple, and deliberately so. The words Shabbat Kodesh are embroidered in the center of the brocade, with a floral spray rising from below to close the design off. There is nothing else on the face — no arch, no crown, no crystals — which is why 240 stays one of the most ordered covers in the whole Malchut line. Thread is silver or gold, and on brocade the gold blends into the woven ground while the silver stands away from it.
Two sizes are cut here: small at 15 by 17.5 and medium at 15.5 by 19.5. Both are ordinary household sizes rather than table-length ones, which suits the design — a plain cover on a huge cut looks bare, and 240 works best at a scale where the lettering fills the face properly.
The same design is made on navy velvet, and Malchut also produces 240 in lucite and as a tallis and tefillin bag. For a first Shabbos table, or a spare cover kept for when the good one is in the wash, this is the straightforward choice.
