Description
A swirl turns through the corner of the velvet face in design #413, curling in on itself rather than running along an edge. It is a small piece of embroidery for the size of the panel, and that is intentional — the bag is meant to look like velvet with a signature on it, not like an embroidered surface.
Three sizes are produced. The single tefillin bag at 8.5 x 9.5 comes without stones and is the straightforward option for tefillin kept on their own. The large talis bag at 14 x 14 takes a tallis and tefillin together and is the size most men settle on. The extra large at 16 x 16 is there for a full-size wool tallis, or for a man who also carries a siddur.
Corner designs like this one age well. There is less embroidery to catch and wear, and the velvet takes the handling, which is why the simpler numbers often outlast the heavily worked ones.
