Description
White leather or grey leather, and either way #1256 is the lighter end of what Malchut makes. White is the bolder choice, a bag that stands out on a shtender in a room where almost everything else is black, and it suits a chosson or a Yom Tov bag better than a weekday one. Grey is the everyday version of the same idea: lighter than black, but forgiving about marks. The embroidery is stitched into the hide on both.
Sizes run 10.5" x 10" for bar mitzvah, 14" x 14" for a large talis bag, and 16" x 16" for extra large. Choose on the tallis rather than on the look: a full woolen tallis wants one of the two larger cuts, and the extra large gives room for a siddur as well.
Light leather asks for a little more care than black does, mainly about where it gets set down. Men who carry it anyway generally say it is the bag they get asked about most.
