Description
Design #5025 comes from the embroidered side of the Malchut catalogue — thread work across the front panel, no fur, no velvet, no contrasting hide. The bag is made after the order is placed, which is why it is listed by design number and why the number can be quoted again years later.
Three sizes are produced. The smallest, 10.5 by 10 inches, is the bar mitzvah bag. The largest, 16 by 16, is the extra large, and it exists because a full wool tallis and a decent set of tefillin genuinely need the room. Between them sits the 14 by 14 large talis bag, which is what most men buy and keep. If the choice is close, the larger of the two is the one people are glad of on a winter morning with a heavy tallis.
Embroidered bags are also the easier gift when the recipient's taste is unknown. There is no fur to have an opinion about and no colour combination that can go wrong at a chasunah or a bar mitzvah.
