Description
Beige leather stitched in off-white thread — that is the whole of design #5070, and it is an unusual bag. Nothing about it is dark. The thread sits a shade lighter than the hide, so the embroidery reads as relief rather than as contrast, and the effect up close is considerably more interesting than a photograph suggests. It is a leather bag through and through, with no fur or velvet involved.
Malchut builds it in the three house sizes: 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 for a large talis bag, and 16 by 16 for the extra large. The 14 by 14 covers most men carrying a tallis and tefillin together; the 16 by 16 is the size for full wool.
