Description
Blue carries design #102. The artwork lies beneath a clear glass top rather than on it, so the color reads up through the surface while the surface itself stays flat and unbroken. Nothing is raised, nothing is painted on top to scratch off, and the pattern will look the same on its fiftieth Shabbos as it does on its first.
The board runs 16 by 11 inches, which is a genuine serving surface and not a token one. Two full challos sit side by side with room left over for the knife and the salt, and there is enough border that nothing balances on the edge. Glass is the reason it stays presentable: crumbs, salt and a smear of honey all come off with one pass of a damp cloth, with nothing soaking into the grain the way it does on wood.
Design #102 is also cut as a challah cover and as a bencher cover, so the same blue can run from the board to the cover to the benchers passed around after the seudah, ordered together under one number instead of hunted down piece by piece.
