Description
Clear glass covers a soft linen-look ground on design #920. The weave is loose and light in tone, so it reads more like natural cloth than like a printed panel, and the glass over it keeps the softness visible while giving the working surface a hard, flat finish that fabric could never provide on its own.
Sixteen by eleven inches is the board, sized for two full challos and the knife. Worth thinking about how it layers: the cover goes over the challos, the challos sit on the glass, and the linen shows around the border. On a narrow board that border disappears; at this width it stays visible, which is the reason the fabric under the glass is worth paying attention to at all.
This is one of the broadly cut designs. Challah covers, matzah covers, haggadah covers and tallis and tefillin bags are all made in #920, which makes it a sensible starting point for a family that intends to match the table over time rather than in a single purchase.
