Description
The leather-look base of design #875 gives this board its weight. The grain is deep and the tone is warm, and under clear glass it holds both — a matte, worked surface visible through a hard, smooth one. Nothing about the material is exposed, so the depth it has when it arrives is the depth it keeps.
Sixteen by eleven inches is the size, and it is sized for the way challah is actually served: two full loaves across the board, the knife beside them, the salt within reach. The glass takes all of that and cleans in one pass. There is no seasoning, no oiling and no risk of a stain setting in the way it would on wood.
Design #875 is cut as a challah cover and as a tallis and tefillin bag as well. Between those three pieces there is enough to build a coherent gift for a bar mitzvah bochur or for a chosson, all under one number rather than assembled from separate designs that nearly agree.
