Description
Deep blue is the point of #106. The artwork is set beneath a clear glass top, and blue behaves well under glass — it holds its depth rather than going grey, and the smooth top gives it a slight sheen that a fabric or printed board never has. The design is fixed underneath, so the surface you serve on is one clean plane.
This is a 16 by 11 inch board, wide enough for a pair of full challos with the knife beside them. Anyone who has cut challah over a wooden board knows what happens over a few years: the salt, the seeds and the oil get in and stay in. Glass does not take any of it. A damp cloth is the entire maintenance routine, which is why this is the sort of board that stays in weekly use for Shabbos and for every Yom Tov meal.
A matching challah cover is made in the same design, so the blue reaches the cloth over the challos as well as the board underneath them.
