Custom Leather Siddur & Tehillim Cover, Design #1290
Pickup at both Lakewood stores
Description
Plain leather, cut and stitched in the #1290 pattern, with nothing printed or appliqued on top of it — the grain and the shaping of the panel carry the whole design. It is the same #1290 that runs on the custom Malchut tallis and tefillin bags, which is the reason most people order it: the cover is not chosen on its own, it is chosen to sit next to something.
The cover is made up for a siddur or for a Tehillim, so decide first which sefer is going inside. A siddur cover is the one that opens every morning and takes the wear of being pulled in and out of a bag; a Tehillim cover usually lives a quieter life and comes out on a Shabbos afternoon or when someone needs a name said. Leather handles both, and it darkens where it is handled rather than fraying.
Because this is a custom piece, the #1290 leather can be ordered together with the tallis and tefillin bags in the same finish, so the set arrives matched instead of assembled over years. That is worth thinking about before a chosson's wedding or a bar mitzvah, when the whole set is being bought at once anyway.
