An original Michal Golan hamsa pendant, built up in the New York studio's mosaic method: glass beads, glass cabochons and Swarovski crystals set side by side across the face of the hand in bright color, over 24k gold electroplated brass. The pendant measures three-quarters of an inch.
The hamsa, also called the hand of Miriam, is worn as a guard against the evil eye and a sign of protection. On an adjustable chain it sits high or low depending on the neckline, which makes it a workable bat mitzvah gift she will not outgrow.
