Quilted Velvet Challah Cover, L'kovod Shabbos Kodesh #538

Velvet quilting with L'kovod Shabbos Kodesh embroidered across the center, and Swarovski crystal elements placed at the corners and the middle of the pattern. The lettering has to work harder on velvet than on satin, since the pile absorbs light rather than reflecting it, and the result is embroidery that sits proud of the surface and reads by its shadow. That is the character of this cover.

It comes in large at 19.5x23.5, small at 14.5x17.5 and medium at 15.5x19.5. The medium is the everyday size for a family board; the large drapes over the ends of a long table and is worth taking if you host regularly. All three carry the same embroidery and the same crystal placement.

The same 538 design is produced in white satin. Velvet suits a table with wood, silver and darker linens; satin suits a lighter, brighter setting. Plenty of households end up owning both and rotating them between ordinary Shabbosim and Yom Tov.
