That single line from ArtScroll is the whole argument for the Schottenstein Edition Interlinear Birchon: the English sits directly beneath each Hebrew word, so a person following along knows what he is saying as he says it, without his eye jumping to a facing column and losing his place.

Rabbi Menachem Davis prepared the interlinear text. The birchon runs 47 pages at 4.50 x 6.50 inches - the standard bencher trim, thin enough to stack a hundred of them in a box and light enough to slip into a jacket after a simchah.

This is the copper cover. It reads as a warm metallic rather than a bright gold, which is why it turns up at weddings and bar mitzvahs working from a copper, bronze or blush palette, and why it also works as a plain house bencher for people who do not want a stack of white ones on the sideboard.
