Learning From Our Leaders

Rav Yeshaya Steiner, more commonly known as Reb Shayele of Kerestir, was renowned for his tzidkus and chessed. The mitzvah of hachnasas orchim, hosting and feeding hungry Jews, in particular, was very ose to his heart, and the stories told about this are astounding. Reb Shayele had a direct line with Hashem, and countless mofsim stories are told about him as well.

Read of the rolls that this tzaddik distributed to the men in shul…from an empty bag, and how, on an Erev Shabbos when there was a fish shortage in town, a large, kosher fish was delivered straight to his home…by a bird. Read of the miraculous ways in which Reb Shayele saved so many Jews from trouble, and of how, with his extraordinary warmth and compassion, he brought numerous people closer to the Torah.

The Story of Reb Shayele of Kerestir, geared specifically for junior readers, tells the fascinating story of a holy man whom many of us have heard so much about…but whose greatness we won’t ever truly uncover.
