A metal tree bookend, taken apart and rebuilt as a hanukkiah, with aluminum candle cups fitted along the branches. It stands 7 inches on a 5 by 4 inch footprint and weighs 8 ounces, slim enough for a windowsill or a crowded bookshelf.
Light it through the eight nights and leave it out the rest of the year as a small sculpture. Since the base began life as a salvaged bookend, marks from that first life stay visible in the metal. Treat it as decorative art: set it on a level surface and stay in the room while the candles burn.
