Match the school’s exact nusach and edition before choosing a color or cover. If a school list is unclear, use the exact-match checklist in this subject shop or send the list through the Back-to-School form.
What is the difference between a weekday siddur and a complete siddur?
A weekday siddur (Tefillah l'Chol) covers Shacharis, Mincha and Maariv for ordinary days and is thinner and lighter. A complete siddur adds Shabbos, Rosh Chodesh and Yom Tov tefillos. Buy weekday for a bag or a desk; buy complete if it is your only siddur.
Which publisher should I choose?
ArtScroll is the most widely used and the safest match for a school or shul that has not specified. Metsudah is favoured for its linear translation. Hebrew-only editions from publishers such as Oz Vehadar suit fluent readers who want clearer type rather than a translation.
What is a children's or student siddur?
Larger type, simplified layout, often with fewer tefillos so a young child is not overwhelmed. Schools generally specify one by name, and moving a child to a standard siddur usually happens around the same time across a class.
Is a leather-covered siddur worth it?
It is a durability and presentation choice, not a functional one. Leather and leather-look covers hold up better to daily carrying and present better as a gift; a standard hardcover is the practical everyday option.
Can I get a siddur embossed for a bar mitzvah or wedding?
Yes, on many editions, with no minimum order. Name and date in gold or silver is the usual request. Personalised items are not returnable, so double-check the spelling with us first.
How do I make sure I get the right nusach?
Check what your shul uses, or what the school list states. Nusach determines the text itself, so unlike a size or cover choice it is not something you can work around after the fact.
