Description
7-Day Shiva Memorial Candle
A seven-day memorial candle filled with one hundred percent vegetable oil, housed in a plastic jar with a cover. Light it once and it carries through the whole shiva without being touched again.
The plastic jar is a deliberate choice. It does not get dangerously hot to handle, it will not shatter if it is knocked off a table in a crowded house, and the cover keeps it clean before it is lit and lets you close it after.
Vegetable oil burns cleanly and evenly, so the flame holds the same height on the sixth day as it did on the first. It is the candle most families keep on hand for shiva and for a yahrzeit that runs longer than a single day.
