Description
Grey antique leather worked to design #1557, in the Kaftor cut women use. Grey is the coolest tone in this line and the most restrained; the antique finish keeps it from reading as flat, with the shade deepening in the seams and along the edges where a hand grips. On a table already carrying silver and white linen, it settles in rather than announcing itself.
One configuration, no options to work through. What a leather cover does for a haggadah is mostly structural — it keeps the boards from warping and the corners from going soft through two nights of heavy use and eleven months of storage, and it makes the sefer easy to find in a stack. A kallah who wants her own haggadah rather than a shared one is the buyer here, and grey is the choice for someone who finds white too bridal to keep using at thirty.
The #1557 design is made as a machzor cover, a siddur cover, a document holder and in the tallis and tefillin bag line, so the same number can be extended to her machzor before Rosh Hashanah or to his bag without any guesswork about matching.
