Description
Design #777 is fixed beneath a clear glass top on a full-size board. The pattern sits on the underside where it cannot be reached, and the top is one uninterrupted plane — no bevel, no carving, no raised edge. That is what makes a board like this survive years of weekly cutting without any visible history of it.
The dimensions are 16 by 11 inches. Two full challos go across it with the challah knife beside them, so the board comes to the table loaded rather than being assembled once it gets there. After the seudah, everything that landed on it — salt, seeds, crumbs, a little wine — comes off with a damp cloth, with nothing absorbed and nothing to dry out or re-oil.
A challah cover is cut in the same #777 design. It is the obvious pairing, and buying the two together under one number is the difference between a matched setting and two pieces that happen to be near each other on the table.
