Description
The Rimless Black Velvet Kippah is a four-panel velvet yarmulke without a fabric rim, sold in 17 sizes at $9.99. Instead of a twill band, the velvet itself continues to the edge and is finished with a line of stitching, so the whole kippah is one uninterrupted black pile. The outline is softer and lower-profile than a rimmed kippah. Inside, a black lining carries the iKippah logo and size number. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

How this compares
| Kippah | Material | Season / weight | Formality | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black Velvet – Rimless (this one) | Black velvet, no rim | Year-round | Most formal | The cleanest, most minimal black velvet look |
| Navy Velvet Rimless Yarmulke / Kippah | Navy velvet, no rim | Year-round | Dressy | The same rimless cut in navy |
| Rimless Kippah – Black Cotton Yarmulke | Black cotton, no rim | Year-round | Everyday | A rimless black in matte cotton |
Best for
- Minimalists who want nothing but black velvet
- Men who find a rim band stiff or visible
- Settings where a plain black velvet kippah is expected
- Large or small fits: domes 1 to 9 and flats 16 to 24 cm
Not the right choice if
- You want a defined edge; without a rim the outline is softer
- A coloured rim or stitching
- Rough daily handling; the exposed velvet edge shows wear sooner
- A matte, non-velvet finish
Why customers choose it
This is a kippah for the minimalist: removing the rim is the entire design. With no band, the kippah is velvet from centre to edge, so it looks slightly smaller and sits more flush. Many men prefer it precisely because nothing contrasts, not even the texture of a twill rim. The trade-off is that the velvet edge takes the wear a rim would normally absorb, so a little extra care keeps it looking crisp.

Frequently asked questions
What does rimless mean?
There is no separate fabric band around the edge. The velvet runs to the edge and is finished with stitching.
Does a rimless kippah fit differently?
It sits a little more flush because there is no band adding thickness at the edge.
Will the edge fray?
The edge is stitched to hold it. It does take more contact than a rimmed kippah, so store it in a case and hold it by the crown.
Which sizes is the Black Velvet Rimless kippah made in?
Domes 1 through 9 and flat cuts of 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 24 cm.
Is there a navy rimless?
Yes, the same rimless design is offered in navy velvet.
