Description
The Black Velvet Kippah with Slate Rim is a four-panel black velvet yarmulke for men and boys, sold in 6 sizes at $9.99. The crown is classic black velvet with four panels meeting in a cross on top. Around the edge runs a slate-grey band in a fine woven texture, cool in tone and muted enough that the kippah still reads as black from across a room. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

Best for

- Charcoal or grey suits for Shabbos and simchas
- Boys from size 1 up, so father and son can match
- A formal kippah with a detail that does not draw attention
Not the right choice if
- You are looking for navy velvet; this crown is black
- You need size 7 or a flat-cut kippah
- Your yeshiva requires an all-black rim
- You want a bright accent colour
Why customers choose it
Slate is the most restrained accent you can put on black velvet: close enough to charcoal that it never clashes, light enough to define the edge. The woven texture of the rim adds a little depth against the pile. This four-panel version sits lower and flatter than its six-panel sibling, the traditional shape many men are used to.
Size guide
| Size | Typical fit |
|---|---|
| 1 | Toddler, roughly 2–3 years |
| 2 | Young child, roughly 4–5 years |
| 3 | Child, roughly 6–7 years |
| 4 | Older child, roughly 8–10 years |
| 5 | Teen and most adult men — the most-ordered size |
| 6 | Larger adult head |
Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.
Frequently asked questions
Is the crown black or navy?
Black. The crown is classic black velvet, and the slate rim is the only contrast.
Slate rim or grey rim: what is the difference?

Is a six-panel version available?
Yes, a six-panel black velvet with the same slate rim has a rounder dome.
What size for an adult man?
Size 5 fits most men; size 6 is for a larger head.
Can I add a name?
Yes, names embroider well on black velvet with no minimum order, in 10 to 14 days plus shipping.
