Description
The Black Velvet Kippah with Turquoise Stitching is a four-panel black velvet yarmulke for men and boys, sold in 6 sizes at $9.99. The crown and rim are both dark: black velvet above, a dark twill band below. The one accent is a dashed line of bright turquoise thread stitched all the way around the rim, which shows as a thin, vivid line against the black. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

Best for
- Men who wear black velvet but like one personal touch
- Turquoise or teal ties at a simcha
- Boys who need black for school and want a detail
- A formal kippah with a colour that only shows up close
Not the right choice if
- You want navy velvet; this crown is black
- Your yeshiva forbids any colour at all
- You need a flat-cut kippah or size 7
- You want a wide colour band rather than a thread
Why customers choose it
A contrasting thread is the smallest accent a kippah can have, and turquoise is bright enough to be seen even at that size. The rim band stays dark, so from a distance this is a plain black velvet kippah; at the table or in shul the turquoise stitch line gives it character. It suits men who need black but want theirs to be recognisable.
Size guide
| Size | Typical fit |
|---|---|
| 1 | Toddler, roughly 2–3 years |
| 2 | Young child, roughly 4–5 years |
| 3 | Child, roughly 6–7 years |
| 4 | Older child, roughly 8–10 years |
| 5 | Teen and most adult men — the most-ordered size |
| 6 | Larger adult head |
Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.
Frequently asked questions
Is the turquoise-stitched kippah navy or black velvet?
Black. The crown and the rim band are both black velvet; only the stitch line around the rim is turquoise.
How visible is the turquoise?
It is a single dashed stitch line around the rim, clear up close and subtle from across a room.
Turquoise stitch or maroon stitch?
Turquoise is bright and easy to spot up close. The maroon thread is a deep wine red that almost disappears into the black.
What sizes can I choose?
Domed sizes 1 to 6; size 5 suits most men.
Will the stitching fade?
Keep it out of strong sun and avoid washing; brushing the velvet does not affect the thread.
