Crushed white velvet is set into every medallion frame on this cover, against a velvet ground, with L'kovod Shabbos Kodesh embroidered at the center. Velvet against velvet is a subtler thing than velvet against brocade — the difference shows up in how the light breaks rather than in color — and genuine Swarovski crystals are placed through the pattern with just enough sparkle to define the frames.

Choose small at 14.5x17.5, medium at 15.5x19.5 or large at 19.5x23.5. Because the design repeats, a small does not look like a cut-down large; the medallions simply sit closer together. Families with a long board generally want the large, which keeps the embroidered center over the challos while the pattern falls past the edges.

A matzah cover is made in the same 537 design. The pattern is also produced on white brocade if you want a crisper ground with more contrast between the frames and the insets. Of the two, the velvet is the warmer and the more forgiving on a table already carrying a lot of silver.
