Description
Design 1028 puts its embroidery across the front panel of a black velvet bag. Black velvet is the year-round choice: it does not show handling the way white does, and it sits naturally next to a black tallis bag in a shul where most of what is on the shtenders is dark to begin with.
It is made in two sizes, 13 by 10 inches and 16 by 10.5. The smaller suits a shofar up to around fourteen inches; the larger takes the full-size horns of fifteen to seventeen. Both are shaped for a shofar rather than being a general-purpose pouch, so the horn lies along the length of the bag instead of sitting across it at an angle and straining the seam.
1028 is cut as a tallis and tefillin bag too. Ordering both in the same number is how most men end up with a matched set without having planned it years ahead, since the design stays in production and the second piece can come later.
