Polished Ram's Horn Shofar, 15 to 16 Inches (#B4)
Pickup at both Lakewood stores
Description
A full-size polished horn: fifteen to sixteen inches, smoothed the whole way along so the grain sits under a clean surface rather than standing proud of it. Against the C3 it is an inch or so longer, which puts it squarely in the range most baalei tokeah treat as standard.
Polishing does not change how a shofar sounds, but it changes how it is handled. A polished horn does not catch on a bag lining, it does not collect dust in the ridging, and it can be wiped down between users. That last point is why some shuls prefer a polished horn for a shofar that gets passed around after davening during Elul.
Made in Israel, under the hechsher of the Rabbanut of Israel. At sixteen inches, order the medium shofar bag at 16 by 10.5 rather than the small one, and store it somewhere cool between Rosh Hashanah and the next Elul.
