Description
Leather rather than velvet, in design 1085. It is a different proposition altogether. The leather holds its shape when the bag is set down, it does not crush under whatever is put on top of it, and it takes years of being carried without going shiny at the corners the way velvet eventually does. Black, with the 1085 design worked on it.
Sizes are 13 by 10 inches and 16 by 10.5. The firmer body is the whole argument for leather over velvet: a shofar inside it is protected against being knocked, which counts if the horn travels in a briefcase or a car through Elul instead of living on a shelf. Velvet keeps dust off a shofar; leather will take an actual knock for it.
1085 is made as a tallis and tefillin bag as well, and a leather tallis bag with a leather shofar bag next to it is a more common pairing than the velvet equivalents. Men who buy leather tend to buy it consistently.
