The Shomea Tefillah booklet in its white cover — the lighter of the two versions this pocket booklet is produced in, and the one that looks like a gift rather than a utility item. White shows handling, so this tends to be the copy that goes on a table or into a handbag rather than the one that rattles around a car for two years.

The size is the point. It is slim enough to sit inside a siddur without thickening it, or to slide into a purse, a coat pocket or a tallis bag next to the tefillin. That means the tefillos in it get said where a full siddur simply would not come out.

At a couple of dollars a copy it is bought in quantity for simchos far more often than singly: a table of them at a kiddush, a bas mitzvah or a sheva brachos, one at every place setting. The rosewood-covered version of the same booklet is the alternative if you want two colours going out on the same table.
