Description
Broad embroidery over linen. Where 846 and 856 keep the stitching fine, 876 works it wide across the ground, and sterling crystals are set through it. The scale is what distinguishes this number — the pattern reads from the far end of the table, but because the fabric underneath is plain linen the whole thing still stays calm rather than turning loud.
The cuts are 19.5 by 23.5, 15.5 by 19.5 and 14.5 by 17.5. Broad work needs room, so this is a design where the large genuinely looks better than the small. On the small cut the embroidery runs close to the edges; on the large it has margin around it and sits the way it was drawn.
Malchut cuts a challah board in the matching 876 design. Ordering the two together is worth the thought — the board sets the cover at a height where the embroidery is at eye level for people sitting down, which is not true of a cover laid flat on a tablecloth.
