Night Kippah with Glow-in-the-Dark Good Night Embroidery, Shluf Kappel

A shluf kappel with the good night line embroidered across it in thread that keeps glowing after the light goes off. That is the whole idea: the child gets into bed, the room goes dark, and the words are still there above him. The body is 100% cotton and it is finished with an elastic band, so it stays put through a night of turning over rather than ending up on the floor by morning.

Two sizes are offered — small for ages three to five, medium for ages five to seven. The elastic gives some room in both, so lean toward the smaller size if the child sits at the edge between them; a night kippah that is loose defeats the purpose entirely. Cotton is the right fibre here because it goes through the wash without complaint, which any parent of a four-year-old will appreciate.

It works as an upsherin present, as the thing that gets a child genuinely interested in wearing a kappel at night, or simply as the replacement for the plain one that has finally worn through at the seam.
