Boys Tool Kippah, Brown Cotton Handy Tools Yarmulke

The Handy Tools Kippah is a four-panel dark brown cotton yarmulke for boys, printed all over with a workshop of hand tools, made in 7 sizes and priced at $9.99. The print runs across every panel and onto the rim: red-handled pliers, silver wrenches, hand saws with pale wooden handles, blue and red screwdrivers, hammers, paint brushes, green saw blades, utility knives, loose screws and small sanding blocks, scattered on an espresso-brown ground. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping nationwide.

How this compares

Best for

• Boys who are happiest with a screwdriver in hand
• Everyday cheder and camp wear — a dark ground hides a day's worth of marks
• Parents who want a print that is busy up close but reads as plain brown from across a room
• A first kippah for a boy too young for solid velvet

Not the right choice if

• You need a kippah for Shabbos or a simcha — this is a weekday print
• You want size 6 or a 20cm flat; this one stops at size 5 and an 18cm flat
• You want machine-washable; printed cotton fades in a wash
• You want the motif visible from a distance — the tools are small and close-toned

Why customers choose it

Most novelty kippot for boys are printed on a light ground, which means the first week of cheder shows on them. This one is printed on espresso brown, so scuffs, crumbs and the mark a kippah picks up from a coat hook simply disappear. The print is dense enough that a boy can find a new tool in it weeks later, and close enough in tone that an adult sees a dark brown kippah rather than a cartoon. Cotton also makes it the lightest option here, which matters for a boy who wears a kippah from shacharis through mincha.

Size guide

Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.

Frequently asked questions

What size kippah should I buy for a 5 year old?
Size 2 fits most 4 to 5 year olds and size 3 fits most 6 to 7 year olds. When in doubt between two sizes, take the larger one.

Is the tool print on the rim as well?
Yes. The print carries onto the rim band, so the pattern does not stop at the edge the way it does on many printed kippot.

Can a tool kippah be worn on Shabbos?
Families differ. Most treat this as a weekday and camp kippah and keep a solid velvet, linen or leather kippah for Shabbos and yom tov.

How do I wash a printed cotton kippah?
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry. A machine wash fades the print and softens the panel structure.

Does this come in an adult size?
It runs to size 5, which fits most adult men, and an 18cm flat. There is no size 6 in this print.

Can it be embroidered with a name?
Yes. On a busy print we usually put the name on the rim so it stays readable — WhatsApp 732-444-3111 and we will show you the options.

Which tools are actually in the print?
Pliers, adjustable wrenches, hand saws, screwdrivers, hammers, paint brushes, circular saw blades, utility knives, screws and sanding blocks — a full workshop, scattered at random.
