Description
Navy pile woven into a tonal checkerboard gives this $9.99 four-panel yarmulke for men and boys its texture; it comes in 9 sizes. Small squares of plush navy pile alternate with squares of flatter ribbed weave, so the checkerboard shows as a play of light and shade rather than two colours. The rim is bound in the same fabric, and the overall tone is a deep, slightly purple-leaning navy. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping nationwide.

How this compares
| Kippah | Material | Season / weight | Formality | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Navy cord square (this one) | Navy textured corduroy | Autumn and winter | Everyday to dressy | A navy kippah with woven texture |
| Navy Velvet Kippah / Yarmulke | Navy velvet | Year-round | Dressy | Smooth navy velvet for a more formal look |
| Checker Kippah – Navy Yarmulke | Navy checker pattern | Year-round | Casual | A visible checker pattern rather than a tonal one |
Best for
- Navy and grey suits in the winter
- Someone who finds plain navy velvet too smooth
- Boys and teens who want texture without a print
- Matching a navy coat or school blazer
Not the right choice if
- You need an all-black kippah
- You want a lightweight summer fabric
- You need size 7 or 22 cm flat
- You want high contrast; the checks are tone-on-tone
Why customers choose it
Navy works with more clothing than black, and the checkerboard texture gives it a tailored, suiting-fabric look. Because the squares are all the same navy, the pattern appears only as the light moves, which keeps it appropriate for shul. The pile squares are soft and warm, making this a natural choice for winter. It is the navy twin of the Black Cord Square.

Frequently asked questions
Is the checkerboard a second colour?
No. It is all navy; the squares differ only in texture, pile versus flat rib.
Is it dark navy or bright navy?
A deep navy with a faint purple cast, far darker than royal blue.
Is there a black version of the Navy Cord Square?
Yes, the Black Cord Square uses the same fabric in black.
What sizes can I order the Navy Cord Square in?
Size 1 up to size 6, and flat cuts measuring 16, 18 or 20 cm across.
Is it a warm kippah?
Yes. The raised pile squares make it one of the warmer fabrics, suited to autumn and winter.
